With the year that’s just been, minding both your physical and mental health has become more important than ever.
However, it can feel at times like the emphasis is placed solely on the physical health side of that equation, while mental health improvement is completely ignored.
Soul Sanity, a self-described ‘mental’ health gym’, aims to address that. It has officially launched an online service that allows users to work on improving their mental health.
As it is not location-centred, users of the platform can enjoy its facilities from the comfort of their own homes.
Holly Novick, the founder of the Soul Sanity, cited the lack of facilities to improve our mental wellbeing as one of her reasons behind the platform.
She said: “There’s so many gyms out there for your physical health but nothing that focuses specifically on your mental health.”
The membership-based service offers users a wide range of facilities associated with lessening the stress and anxiety associated with poor mental health. These include mindfulness, expressiveness through art, music and learning new skills and online support from qualified psychotherapists.
Ms. Novick added that this service was born out of a personal necessity, stating: “It was something I personally felt I needed during a time of grief… I needed a fix, not a quick fix, so Soul Sanity’s really been an idea in the making for a while and coincidentally the pandemic has hit at the same time perhaps making it the perfect storm”.
Unlike other similar services, all sessions on Soul Sanity are broadcast live. Anyone can join and there is trial membership available for new members.
